Driver Score Card

Overview

The Driver Scorecard widget is designed to provide a detailed and comparative overview of driver performance over two distinct periods. This tool helps fleet managers and safety officers monitor, analyze, and improve driver behavior by categorizing drivers into different risk levels based on their scores.

Key Features

Current Period:

  • Risky Drivers: Number of drivers with poor performance.
  • Fair Drivers: Number of drivers with average performance.
  • Excellent Drivers: Number of drivers with great performance.
  • Each category is clickable and navigates you to the ‘Driver Analytics’ page allowing you to see detailed information about the drivers in that category.

Previous Period:

  • Shows similar information for the previous period to allow for easy comparison.

Visual Representation:

  • Bar Graphs: Two graphs show how many drivers fall into different score ranges for both the current and previous periods.

How to Use the Widget

View Current Period Data:

  • Check the number of Risky, Fair, and Excellent drivers for the current period in the top section.
  • Click on any category to see detailed information about the drivers in that group.
  • On clicking, the user will navigate to driver analytics to assess the driver behavior by looking at events and coach the driver accordingly.

Compare with Previous Period:

  • Look at the same categories for the previous period in the section below to see if there has been any improvement.

Analyze Graphs:

  • Use the bar graphs to see the spread of scores. Each bar represents how many drivers scored within a certain range.

Update Event Weights and Driver Score-Category Mapping:

  • The user can update event weights based on observations. For example, they might find using a phone while driving as risky and increase the event's weight.
  • The user can change the driver score-category mapping. For instance, a driver with a score of 30 or less being categorized as risky can be changed to a driver with a score of 50 or less being categorized as risky.

Formulae Involved in the Widget

The driver scores are calculated based on their driving behavior. Here’s a simple explanation:

Driver Score: Starts at 100 and points are taken away for unsafe driving actions like speeding or harsh braking. The fewer the unsafe actions, the higher the score.

Score Categories:

  • Risky Drivers: Scores less than 50.
  • Fair Drivers: Scores between 50 and 90.
  • Excellent Drivers: Scores above 90.

The driver scores are calculated based on their driving behavior using the following formula:

Driver Score = 100 - Σ(Fi × Wi × Si) / Distance

Where:

  • Fi: Frequency of event i (how often a specific event occurs).
  • Wi: Weight of event i (importance of the event).
  • Si: Severity of event i (how serious the event is).
  • Distance: Distance traveled by the driver.

Benefits of Using the Widget

  • Improved Safety: Helps identify drivers who need more training, making everyone safer.
  • Performance Tracking: See how driver performance changes over time.
  • Easy Decisions: Use clear data to make informed decisions about driver training and rewards.

By using the Driver Scorecard widget, you can keep track of your drivers' performance, ensuring a safer and more efficient operation.
